1. It’s a great way to learn1. It’s a great way to learn
Especially if you are weak on gospel knowledge. Institute material has helped guide my scripture studies. Before attending institute, I was simply reading the scriptures. But now, institute has me pondering and thinking more on the verses I read. You will start to understand what it means to study the scriptures. A greater understanding of gospel and doctrinal truths will be gained.
2. You remember you are not alone2. You remember you are not alone
Growing up, I was the only Latter-day Saint in school and in my social circles. It is difficult when most do not support or respect your decisions to follow the Church’s standard of living. In institute, I have made friends. These friends lift up my spirits every week. They remind me about what is really important in our life here on earth. And they give me strength to choose the harder right instead of the easier wrong.
3. You experience for yourself that the prophet’s promises being fulfilled3. You experience for yourself that the prophet’s promises being fulfilled
Prophet Thomas S. Monson promised us many things if we attend Institute. He said, “Friends will be made, the Spirit will be felt, and faith will be strengthened. I promise you that as you participate in institute and study the scriptures diligently, your power to avoid temptation and to receive direction of the Holy Ghost in all you do will be increased. Divine favour will attend those who humbly seek it.” These are the promises that the prophet has made to us if we “make institute a priority.”
I have experienced the fulfilment of all these promises in my life. And I am sure that you will too if you follow the Prophet’s counsel with a willing heart. Choosing to attend institute is the best decision I have made (thus far). My life is filled with joy. I understand more about the gospel and continue to learn more each week. This is my testimony of institute and the promises of the prophet, which I share with you in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
