Singapore Stake Youth Choir
Performs at Peace and Harmony Carnival

by Ashley Soh

On the 28th of November, the youth of the Stake had the opportunity to perform at the Peace and Harmony Carnival held next to the Eunos MRT station. It was indeed an honor to be the only church organization invited to perform for the crowd and to represent the Christian community. It was also a good way for us to bring the Church out of obscurity and to share some of our values and beliefs with the community. It is always fun when the youth get together to rehearse for performances and such.

We happened to arrive early so we had to wait for our turn to perform. I was rather surprised to see quite a lot of people there but that meant that more people would get to hear us sing! During that time, we were able to watch some of the other performances, including a Sri Lankan and Thai dance. The dancers were adorned in colorful costumes and it was very pretty. Even though it was sweltering hot and the youth were getting a little restless, I believe that they appreciated the effort put in by the other performers. An event like the Peace and Harmony Carnival really helps to promote religious and racial harmony through the understanding of other cultures and religious beliefs. I think that overall, we did a good job and the people enjoyed our message because I saw smiling faces beaming at us. I hope that the youth will have many more opportunities like this because it was fun and we get to help in doing missionary work.
